What Has Been Happening Around The Farmstead?

As you all have noticed I have been MIA for the past couple of days. Now this is not like me whats so ever. So please let me explain......Last spring, I had a list of places that I wanted to take Baby D to over the summer. Now that summer is officially over, I thought I should bust out my list and actually try to fulfill it.

Tickle, Tickle.....

Once Upon A Time In A Far Away Farmland....

Once upon a time in a far away farmland, there were three cousins who always adored getting to play with one another.

Two of the cousins are just about the same age, so their communication skills with each other are exceptional.

Always making sure the other one knows what is going on.

In this far away farmland, the oldest wisest of the cousins, was able to merrily ride around in his pick of equipment.

Going as far as even co-piloting with his uncle HH.

And if that wasn't enough, the oldest wisest cousin decide it would be best to take a leisurely stroll around the farmland on horseback.

Alas, little sister could not let her big brother get to have all the fun, so she took it upon herself to take the semi for a jont around the block.

In the meantime, big brother was practicing up on his roping skills, eager to his uncle in T-Town that he is now "countrified".

But like all fairy tales, this too has to come to an end. We had a fabulous time mingling with all of our relatives last weekend. And are looking forward to seeing them in 2 months when they come down to visit again.

Have a magnificent weekend,
Farming Fabulously

Baby D's Birthday Party

Wow, what an exciting event Baby D's Birthday was!

We sported everything green and yellow baby.

This day was all about Baby D, so any personalized accessory was purchased.

The cake was absolutely amazing, the magnificent Cake Lady made it for us.

Even a personalized sippy cup was a necessity for this grand occasion.
I was able to purchase the sippy cup and bib from Blooming Babies Boutique.

Can't forget the bib.

Or even the Happy 1st birthday plates, can be purchase Here.

One of my favorites was from My Jones, we had soda bottles with Baby D's picture on them.
If you are interested, you can purchase your own HERE.

My baby is not a baby anymore.

Happy First Birthday Baby D....

Today September 3, 2010 Baby D is the big #1. I feel as though I am going through denial, as I am still in disbelief that it has already been one year. Although Baby D is not having any problem accepting his newly found toddler hood. Alas, bright and early this morning BDW and SMS came over to give Baby D his Birthday presents. He was absolutely ecstatic about the peddle tractor. On the other hand, HH and I were thrilled about the hardhat, as we knew this will come in use on a daily basis. Look out world, our baby is not a baby anymore!

With lots of Love,
HH and Farming Fabulously

1 More Day Till Our Baby Is 1

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT OUR BABY WILL BE 1 YEAR OLD TOMORROW! It seems like just yesterday, I was 60 pounds over weight, my ankles were the size of boulders, my fingers resemble chunky sausages,  even at first glance you would swear that I was storing mango's in my cheeks for the winter, and yet all of this did not matter to me, as I knew that soon I would be meeting my "Lil Farmer Boy", who at this time was 4 days past due.

We are getting ready to celebrate the big number 1 this Saturday. My to-do list is longer then ever, but darn it, everything has to be at least medioaker for Baby D's first birthday. We are having the bash in the "Shop" outside, where we will be eating birthday cake, drinking punch and opening presents. How fun is that?

Did I mention that some of my Wisconsin kinfolk are making the trip down south? We are eagerly awaiting to play with the cousins, oh what fun we will have. I will document as much of the birthday bash as possible. Infact, I will even give you a sneak peak at one of the things that everyone will be taking home with them tomorrow.

Have an incredible day,
Farming Fabulously

Walking Like A Champ....

Baby D is now fully mobile! Although alittle wobbly at times, he can still manage to get to where he needs to go. Our little man is on a never-ending mission towards a full fledged sprint.

He can go from sitting to standing with the greatest of ease, and even turns corners if he please.
Walking with his arms spread open wide, mommy and daddy don't even need to be by his side.
Quite the handsome young man he has become, can you believe he is almost one?

Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously

Baby D's Triumphs: Year 1...

My pint-size tot is getting ready to celebrate his 1st Birthday in a few weeks! So I thought today I would reflect on some of his accomplishments thus far. Now I know that there are many more, but these are the first 10 that came to mind.

1. Hallelujah, Baby D sleeps through the night
2. Will feast on anything as long as it is room temperature
3. Is figuring out how to become mobile in an up right stance, 10 steps thus far.
4. Brushing his teeth morning and night, has finally become easier.
5. Favorite Words: hat, tractor, Sassy (dog) and Dada
6. Thoroughly enjoys riding on any piece of equipment that has a steering wheel
7. Can maneuver up and down stairs confidently
8. Is becoming camera savie, will pose on command
9. Is now helping me pick up his toys before bedtime
10. Baby D knows how to work a crowd; He will smile and go to anyone

Random Wisconsin Pic's....And Ice Cream...

Since it is Friday the 13th, and considering the heat index is well over 100 degrees today, I thought that it would be appropriate to post all of my random pictures from our little Wisconsin get-away.

Poor Baby D, because of his hefty build he can not be held for more then approximately 3 minutes by the average person. Hence, creativity must come into play.

Who knew that a 10 cent bucket could lead into hours of pure blissful amusement?

This pictures captures the nervous energy that this mommy was feeling. I remember feeling the same way during our photo shoot, when Baby D was placed into the tractor tire. (Headline picture above).

Baby D is always on the move right now, even going as far as taking 10 steps on his own. Alas, we have to be on our toes, I am sensing some anxiety coming from HH in the photo.

Loving this little bundle of gleefulness, he is perfectly content in his great-grandmothers arms.

Have a lovely weekend,
Farming Fabulously

Program Note: Today is supposed to be the hottest day of the year in our area. Because of this, Baby D, BDW (Big Daddy Wayne), and I will be scouring the countryside distributing ice cream to those of you in Saline County (Pettis County, I will see you after the fair). This is our way of saying that we appreciate all of our local business who have helped us throughout the year.

A Day Of Tractors.....

Can you believe that it is already the end of July? This means one thing, birthdays for the farmstead are fast approaching. So I gathered up some of the crew for a mock photo shoot last week. Afterall, prints make the most elaborate gifts.

John Deere apparel was worn, the reliable 4020 was polished and strategically placed at the edge of the corn field. With the humidity climaxing to what felt like 105 degrees that day, we still managed to get some incredible shots.

As you can see, Baby D was in his element. Now 10 months old, he is turning into quite the little driver.

Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously

All Hail Sweet Corn....

Every year at approximately this time, we scour the sweet corn fields in search of the perfect ears. However, this year our crop was not very successful so we had to branch out and bag for donated corn. Fortunately we have generous family members who are always willing to share their lustrous produce with those in need. So yesterday, we were on a corn shucking mission! As you can see Baby D was perfectly content nibbling on succulent cob, while HH and I were blanching and cutting.

Enjoy,
Farming Fabulously

Parent & Child Aquatics

For the last two weeks Baby D and I have been attending swimming lessons! I was skeptical at first considering that he is only 10 months old, but my mind was quickly put to ease once I met our delightful swimming instructor. Her patients were exquisite, she always embraced Baby D making him feel secure in the water. She was even kind enough to bring a tractor for Baby D to play with. Because of her wonderful expertise and motivation Baby D is proud to announce that he has conquered numerous skills on his Achievement Card:

Getting Wet With Toys
Enters the Water By Lifting In
Out-Of-Water Exporation
In-Water Exploration
Exit Water By Lifting Out
Passes Easily From Instructor To Parent
Leg Action On Front
Leg Action On Back

I am already looking forward to next years Aquatics classes as by that time Baby D will be walking and talking up a storm, figuratively speaking of coarse.

Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously

Program Note: My culinary "Mojo" is now fully enabled so I will be posting recipes promptly.

The Engagement Party Of A Lifetime

Last weekend we all gathered to celebrate the engagement of these two dazzling individuals. These are our Georgian kinfolk, we do not get to mingle with them as often as we would like, so getting to spend time with them was a real treat. Hence, the whole family decided  that we needed to capture these magical moments. All of these pictures are courtsey of photographer Chele Trammell.

Have a fabulous weekend!
Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously

Haphazard Photo's In The Land Of Cheese...

These are some scattered shots that I had taken while visiting my Norwegian kinfolk.

My safety was in jeopardy trying to take this shot particular, he was fully loaded. Thank heavens the squirt gun was as big as he is, so his aim was slightly off kilter.

Innocently checking to make sure the birds had a ample amount of water, to comfortably bath.

Although destruction was minimal, Baby D's thought for sure there had to be a tractor hidden within the house some where.

Baby D casts a pure disposition, as he continued his journey for the "Yellow and Green Machines"!

Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously
